To the Traffic Violator:

You have the right to plead guilty or not guilty. If you plead not guilty you must appear in court on the date the officer indicates on your ticket.

If you plead guilty you may pay the fine by mail if the charge on the citation is listed below. If paying by mail you must send a Money Order or Cashier's check. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT A PERSONAL CHECK. Make payments payable to: Clerk of Newton County Superior Court and mail it to the above address. Also, sign your ticket on the back where it indicates defendants signature and enclose it along with a self-addressed stamped envelope in which we can return a cash receipt and your license if we have it in our possession. If paying by mail, please do so prior to your court appearance date, or your license will be suspended and a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.

If you have more than one (1) ticket issued for an incident, or have been charged with Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Homicide with a vehicle or are involved in an accident you MUST APPEAR IN COURT.

FAILURE TO APPEAR - If you fail to appear for a hearing, the Court can suspend your license and issue a bench warrant for your arrest. The penalty for Failure to Appear can be a fine up to $500.00 and incarceration up to sixty (60) days.
